Idegwu Day 2024 Plans & Reasons to be in Achina to celebrate this year Idegwu Day festival.

The Land of the Bold & Brave: Achina Community popularly known as Achina Idegwu Egbe Buru Ọku asoghi anwuru is a great town in Aguata LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Achina is located South of Aguata LGA, once awarded the headquarters of the defunct Amaiyi LGA.

This great town Achina is governed traditionally by HRM Igwe Godwin Nnaemeka Obiora (Eze Idegwu III). And administratively led by Hon Tony Ezenwaka, NPOM the President General Achina Town Union (ATU), as at the time of this post.

However, the Achina community celebrates a tri-annual ( once in 3 years) festival known as “IDEGWU DAY.” This Idegwu Day festival celebration of Achina cultural heritage comes up this 2024 on the 31st of December at Amaiyi field, Achina.

More also, the Ofala Festival of Eze Idegwu III, comes up this 2024 too, on the 30th of December 2024. At Ekweiyi Recreational Centre, around Forest Villa, Achina.

Yes! The aforementioned great festivals: The Idegwu Day & Ofala Eze Idegwu III brings together great activities where Achina reach cultural heritages will be showcased.

The President General Achina Town Union (ATU), Hon Tony Ezenwaka, and his Executive has with great wisdom assembled the finest Achina citizens both males and females, carefully selected from different field of endeavors to serve as Committee members for a: “Memorable Idegwu Day Celebration.”

We will introduce to you this Idegwu Day 2024 Planning & Execution committee; made of both Academic Professors, PhD Holders, Barristers, Engineers, and successful business men and women etc, including enterprising youths.

Here are some of the planned programmes:

There will be:

Football Competition for the Achina Youths, and it will be hosted again by the Achina Committee of Friends (ACOF) Lagos Branch; through the Achina Youths Council (AYC). Winners of Star prizes will go home with Million of Naira, with other consolation prizes to be won.
Di Jị (Eze-Oba) Competition: will unveil the Men in Achina that are serious with cultivating Yam. And prizes will be won.
Cultural Group Dance Competition: Some selected cultural best group dancers will equally smile home with Cash prizes.
Idegwu Beauty Pageant Competition: The Search for Okoro Idegwu & Ada Idegwu is on. And the beauty competition will feature Star and consolation prizes to be won by participants who most be young talented citizens of Achina.
Big and Ancient Masquerade Display: Most of the Achina ancient masquerades will appear on this Celebration at Amaiyi field on the 31st for viewing.
Summit: There will be summit planned by this great Committee that will hold on the 28th of December 2024 at Achina Town Hall. This summit will feature keynote speakers and discussants, who will enrich participants with the knowledge of Modern Agriculture, How to succeed in Business, Technology, Life stories of some successful individuals. It will equally feature display of products made by Ndi Achina. And some Achina native Foods.
Idegwu Book Launch: Fortified Landmark stories of notable individuals past and present, wonderful articles full of knowledge and archival prowess will be part of the take-home content of this book that will be launched at the Summit ground.
Isi-Agu, Ashebi Uniform: Plans is on ground for a uniformed cultural attire made of Isi-Agu that will add color to the festival, for all region, branches of ATU and Associations. Idegwu Day this year will be colourful.
Publicity: The Idegwu Day festival this year will be aired live as it is happening. It will be promoted using both conventional media. Bloggers will carry the news on blog Site and social media platforms etc.
