Achina to the world: Ofala Ezeidegwu III Unveiled at a world press conference held on the 7th of November 2024 at the Royal palace of HRH Igwe Godwin Nnaemeka Obiora of Achina.

The great people of Achina in Aguata LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria celebrates as the 4th Ofala Festival of Eze Idegwu III was unveiled by the planning & execution committee made of Ndi Ichie and reputable citizens of Achina community.

Gentlemen of the Press across different Media company like the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Awka, SUN, Summit News, Omega FM, BrainPower etc, anchored the event.

Quarter leadership of Achina community and in extension, the good people of Achina were not left out; as the quarter leadership made of Chairmen and Secretaries were present from all quarters in Achina, fully represented the community men and women of all age.

An Address Presented By Chairman Publicity Sub-Committee of the 2024 Ofala Planning Committee At The World Press Conference To Unveil The 2024 Ofala Festival of Eze-Idegwu III of Achina:

Gentlemen of the Press,
“I feel greatly privileged to welcome you to the ancient town of Achina Idegwu, Egbe Buru Ọku Asoghi Anwuru, a cradle of civilization, a community located south of Aguata Local Government Area.
You have been invited to this uncommon gathering because we want you to help us tell the world how happy we are to celebrate the 14th year anniversary of the enthronement of HRH Igwe G N Obiora as the Eze-Idegwu III of Achina and his 4th Ofala Festival.
The Ofala Festival is set out for communities to traditionally celebrate their traditional ruler and, by extension, the throne. It is a long age tradition in Igboland and it is only traditional Rulers that are in good standing with their subjects that Celebrate Ofala, because it is a festival of the people by the people and for the people in honor of their traditional ruler.”

Ofala is supposed to be an annual event. That is why it is called igu-aro. But in the wisdom of the proponents of Achina Town Union Constitution, they rather proposed that it should be done every three years to coincide with the celebration of Idegwu as our ancestral heritage.
Going forward , the leadership of the town discovered that managing those two events in any particular year could be tiring and demanding.
Consequently, through a constitutional amendment, it was agreed that Ofala should be celebrated every Six years while Idegwu remains a three yearly event.
So Achina as a community had her last Ofala Six years ago, precisely in 2018.
