The Nigeria Federal House of representative committee on Ecological Project & Environment led by Hon Dominic Okafor visited Achina Ọkwaranwa Erosion Site on the 19th of February 2025.
Achina community is one of the most progressive and developing town in Aguata LGA, Anambra State Nigeria.
This endowed and hospitable community: Achina has a serious erosion menace like some other towns in Aguata LGA.
The motion moved by Engr. Dom Okafor, Member Representing Aguata Federal Constituency at the 10th House of Assembly on the erosion menace ravaging most towns in Aguata LGA; which later attracted a public hearing at Abuja, resulted to “on the spot” visit to some locations of erosion threatened communities in Aguata; including Achina Town.
Hon Anayo Okpalaeke, member representing the good people of Aguata I constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly (Chairman House committee on Education & Deputy Chairman House Committee on Environment), was part of the visit to Achina his home town.
It was a moment of great joy as the President General of Achina Town Union (ATU), Hon Tony Ezenwaka, NPOM who is the Chairman of Anambra State Civil Service Commission with the host of some Achina community leaders at various levels welcomed the federal House of Reps Committee on ecological project & environment to Achina to see the damages caused by erosion at Okwarannwa erosion site in Umueleke village, Achina.

What you need to know on Achina Okwaranwa Erosion Site Govt Visit of 19th February 2025: The house committee Chairman was accompanied also by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Environment, Mr Tochukwu Obodogha and the Project Coordinator, Anambra State Agency in Charge of Erosion Control, Prof Phil Eze.
Other important persons that attended includes Dr C.D Ochuba the 1st Vice President ATU, Mr Ikenna Ofoma, Ichie JC Azike, Chief I.G Nzekwe, Nze Emmanuel Nzekwe, Nze Raphael Okoli (Ezeukwu na Achina), Hon Engr Innocent Igboanu (Secretary Umueleke), who represented Nze Benjamin Okpalanyim the Chairman of Umueleke village.
Honorable Councilors Achina ward 1 (Hon Vincent Ibekwe) & Ward 2 (Hon Ezeanyim), Nze Charles Ezenwaka, Nze Jonathan Ezenweke the home branch Chairman Iduu quarter in Umueleke village who represented Nze Emmanuel Ezenwamma, Chairman Iduu quarter, Nweke Ifeanyi Green (Iduu Secretary) etc.
